Women, RISE UP!

It is dark outside. The house is quiet and still (and still clean–maybe!). My alarm goes off across the room. It is 5 a.m.! I have the choice to spring up out of bed, turn off the alarm, and start my day. Or, I can choose to shut off the alarm and climb back into bed. What do I choose? What would you choose?

Many of us may be on the fence on whether to get more sleep or start the day. I used to be the one that would press the snooze button as many times as possible before dragging myself out of bed. With six kids and a worn out body, I felt the bed was my friend. BUT, what I didn’t realize was that my days would start with kids fighting, a noisy, messy house, and no time to get dressed before I had to run to referee a fight. If you had to start your day like that day in and day out, would you want something to change? Maybe you wake up every morning with barely enough time to get to work and you feel rushed, stressed, and flustered. Maybe you have a dream you are running after but you feel you will never have the time to make it happen. My friends, I have something amazing to share with you…

It all started about 4 months ago. After I started my Wellness and Charity business back in June 2016, I realized I just didn’t make the time in my day to stop, reflect, refresh, relax, and rejuvenate. I went from one task to the next. Running kids around, homeschool, work, meetings, etc. I would NEVER consider myself a morning person, but I knew that at the end of the day I was spent. So I decided to dabble in waking up early to pray, workout, and then start homeschool. I started at 7 a.m., then on to 6 a.m. and finally settled at 5:30 a.m. But here is the sweet part. This isn’t about just waking up early…this is about waking up early with purpose!!!

So during a class I was taking for business development, the sweet woman mentioned a book called The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8 AM)  by Hal Elrod. She added “This book is going to change your life!” The title alone had me clicking on Amazon in minutes and shipping it off to my house. I was ready for a transformation. I was ready to be the woman God was calling me to be.

But, like many of the books I buy, this one made its way on my shelf before I even had time to open it up. Sound familiar? This was evidence in my life that I was too busy and could probably be more efficient with my time. But how can that be when I am waking up at 5:30? Shouldn’t that give me the time I need to get things done? You would think…but here is where the transformation comes…

A sweet friend of mine knew that I woke up everyday at 5:30 a.m. to pray, exercise and work before I started my homeschool day with my children. She reached out to me and asked me to walk alongside her as she started her Miracle Morning. Without hesitation, I agreed to support her and she sent me a download of the FREE FAST START KIT  so I could do this with her.

But later on that same day, I was looking through some books on my shelf and took out my “Miracle Morning” book and said, “I better keep this out. I need to start reading this soon. I know this will transform my life!” What I didn’t realize was the book I took off the shelf was the SAME BOOK my friend just asked me to do WITH her. Coincidence? No. God incidence? YES!

So without excuse, I sat down that night and started reading. I was so excited that I didn’t even wait to find out how to structure my mornings, I just ended my day with positive affirmations in Christ and said “I am waking up at 5:30 a.m.!” The next morning when my alarm went off across the room, I sprung out of bed with purpose and determination ready to start my day focused, relaxed, and being intentional with my time. I loved it so much that by Monday of the next week, I was waking up at 5 a.m.! Oh, I am LOVING IT!

I have seen such a transformation in the way I think, the way I feel, and the way I respond to others, especially my children and my husband. I feel like I am more patient, more focused, and more fulfilled. I am reaching goals, spending my time with purpose, and feeling wonderful! I am now pouring out of a full pitcher versus an empty pitcher. It is amazing what God can do with you when you SET APART time from your first fruits for Him.

What is so different about THIS morning time? You may think, “I already wake up early, pray, and exercise!” SO DID I! I woke up at 5:30 a.m.! But this is different. This book has inspired to do things I have been putting off. I have used the steps in this book, made some modifications to fit my beliefs, values, and goals and used it to focus on Christ and His Purpose for my life. This is about:

  • Praying with purpose and passion
  • Living well (outside your comfort zone) and Loving Well
  • Taking time to develop yourself as a person and choosing to listen to the voice of truth.
  • Tending the Temple, your body, with exercise, intentional nourishment, and reducing stress so you can function at your best.
  • Filling your morning with the promises of Christ over your life so when if you get beat up and attacked during your day, you can stand strong in the truth of God’s word.
  • It is about reflecting and renewing your life by focusing on specific areas you want to develop and grow in, journaling, and watching God answer prayers.
  • RISING UP to be the woman God has called you to be.
  • ALL BEFORE 8 AM!

  1. I love that you are still benefiting from this! I don’t get up early on Saturdays because my hubby sleeps in too and I can tell the difference. I am in limbo… trying to decide if I should get up early Saturdays too! I just feel SO much better. 5:30 has been my sweet spot. The key for me is getting to bed in time too. I do need my sleep. I try to start winding down at 9 and be in bed no later than 10. Thank you so much for sharing this!

    1. I agree! I do need my sleep. I think my sweet spot is about 6.5 hours. Too much and I just drag. BUT, when I don’t get enough, I feel like I can only run like that for so long before I start to get grouchy. So, I can only fall under my sweet spot for a couple days or I set myself up for failure…lol. Thanks for your encouraging words! You know you are the one I am talking about in the story…hee hee. Love ya girl and I am so happy to be on this journey with you. Blessings.
