Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

This dressing is a staple at my house. I was inspired by Barefeet in the Kitchen’s ranch dressing a couple years ago so I made a modified version of her wonderful recipe. When we have visitors over they always ask for this recipe. Don’t skip the lemon. It adds a nice, fresh taste to the dressing.

Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

  • Servings: 1 1/4 cup
  • Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:
½ cup mayonnaise (I use Trader Joe Real Mayonnaise)

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

¼ cup buttermilk or milk with ½  tsp vinegar, let sit for 10 min

1 tsp dried dill (I use Lighthouse freeze dried)

½ tsp dried parsley

¾ tsp dried chives (I use Lighthouse freeze dried)

¼ tsp onion powder

½ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp + 1/8 tsp fine sea salt

1/8 tsp freshly cracked pepper

2-4 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice (adjust to taste)

Steps:

1.  Combine mayonnaise, sour cream OR Greek yogurt, and buttermilk

2.  Whisk until smooth.

3.  Add spices and whisk.

4. Add lemon then whisk.

5. Pour into serving container and chill.

Note: This tastes fresh for about 2 weeks at our house, although it usually doesn’t last that long in my house!

T-Tip: To awaken the flavor of dried herbs and spices, rub spices in your hand before adding to your mixture. You can also use a mortar and pestle. They have cute mini ones that I like to use for spices.

T-Time Saver: I usually keep an airtight container with at least a cup of the dry mix. Then I can just add the seasonings to my dry ingredients. All done!
