Taking the Journey Together

Homeschooling is very rewarding, but it also comes with challenges. Many families experience ups and downs as they homeschool their children year after year. As you take this homeschool journey, know that you are not alone. Find encouragement and inspiration here with testimonies from families who are walking this journey with you. Be inspired. Be encouraged.

“I was a deer in headlights when I first made the decision to homeschool. I had no idea where to begin. A book that really helped me find my way was “100 Top Picks For Homeschool Curriculum” by Cathy Duffy. It helped me to figure out my homeschool style and pick the curriculum I wanted according to what would work for our family. Every family is so different. Do what works for you rather than comparing yourself to what everyone else (or the school system) is doing and you will be much happier. And I would have to say the best parts of homeschooling are snuggling with my littles, doing things at our own pace and on our own schedule, and teaching what I want to teach. I am able to teach God’s word (His love and His truth) every day of the year.

I can’t imagine doing anything other than homeschooling! The last few years were definitely good but trying for our family as we tried to balance homeschool, patient care and running a business. It was not ideal but we made it work. I had been trying to step out of the office more when I ended up having to be there more last year. I felt led to be at home more with the kids but we couldn’t make it work. After all of my health issues, God has literally transformed me inside and out. I am a new person physically, mentally and spiritually! I have figured out a way to step out of the office and be at home more investing into the kiddos. I am so excited about this. Our family has bonded over this crisis more than ever. And part of that has to do with that decision to homeschool a few years back. Now that we found a curriculum that absolutely fits our family, our schedule and lifestyle, and that I’m home more, our family is doing amazing! Joshua 24:15 “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
