I have a confession. I woke up this morning feeling a bit overwhelmed. The feeling of being overwhelmed can stem from having so much in front of you and not knowing where to start. If you are a planner like me, it is hard to live day in and day out with a “go with the flow” mentality. Not knowing where things end and the next thing begins can be very frustrating. How can I let go of control? How can you let go of control?
As I walked with Jesus this morning, I kept sensing “Surrender, be still, I got this.” As I wrestled with this concept in the middle of SO much to be done and things piling up before me, I lifted my hands and said “Be patient with me, Lord. I am still learning how to fully surrender.” There is a running theme for me during my devotions the past couple of weeks: Be still, let go, do all for God’s glory, and be joyful.

My answer to “How do I let go of control?” is to admit you don’t have control in the first place. When we surrender our mountain of overwhelmingness to God, we are surrendering the control we never had in the first place and trusting HIM to figure it out for us.
I embrace my challenges because it is through my trials that God gives me the strength to help encourage others when life hits them out of nowhere. Can you make your challenges your opportunity to be a light?
Blessings and joy,
Dr. Joy

Some days it’s easier to do than others! But God knows and gives more grace. I’m telling myself that , too. 🙂

You are spot on! It is crazy hard. Our human side wants to “do” and our mind tells us if we “do” we have control. May God continue to walk with you and strengthen you especially when we need to surrender. Bless you. Thank you for sharing your heart. Choose joy.
