If Mom Got a Paycheck

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galations 6:9

Just a little something the Lord put on my heart this week during my prayer time…

If Mom Got a Paycheck

If Mom got a paycheck,
How much would it be?
For all the hats she wears
In our big, homeschooling family.

A check for the conflict manager,
the judge, or perhaps the referee.
For the daily spats and battles she mitigates
As she tries to be slow to get angry.

A check for the homeopathic nurse,
with essential oils and remedies on hand.
Caring for bruises, bumps, and sickies,
or and a night shift nurse on demand.

A check for the chef and baker
Doing research and creating new things.
Gluten-free, all natural and tasty
Taking votes on what makes our mouths sing.

A check for the financial manager
In charge of a budget, that’s right.
With eight in our family we’re creative
Because it seems things are always tight!

A check for the maid and the housekeeper,
Cleaning floors, dishes, spills, dust, and more.
Washing and folding piles of laundry
But at the end of the day it looks the same as before.

A check for the teacher of five grade levels
How on earth can that possibly be?
To change gears that many times in a school day,
Does your insurance cover insanity?

A check for the daily prayer intersessor,
Oh wait, I think that one is free.
For the many times she calls out to Jesus,
That is where she finds JOY, don’t you see.

When we add all mom’s checks for a day
How much money did mom get for her aid?
Not a nickel, dime, dollar or cent
For in heaven is where she’ll get paid.

It is so easy to become weary doing the mundane tasks every day. Be encouraged. The Lord sees all that you do and will reward you for the work, time, and love you sow into your family every day. May you be blessed and JOYFull knowing you are where God wants you to be and He has a big “paycheck” waiting for you!

    What a lovely post! Mothers do wear lots of hats. 🙂 I love bring a mom and often thank my Heavenly Father for blessing me with some of his precious spirit children to raise as my own here on earth.

      Thank you for sharing your heart, Camie. I enjoy being a mom. Even on the hardest days there are blessings to be grateful for. God is faithful and I am so blessed for every day the Lord gives me with my family on this earth. Blessings to you and your family and I’m praying for your son.

        (I just noticed my spelling error in my first comment!) Thank you for your prayers. We are still waiting for our insurance to approve his medication. Sigh. Meanwhile, his brand new bicycle was stolen! They cut right through his cable lock. Blah! Anyway, you have a lovely, sweet blog and I enjoy your posts. 🙂

          I prayed for you last night after reading your comment. I know this waiting period is hard. It seems like when we are going through a valley, everything goes wrong. But look to the mountain and know God is in control. I am so sorry your son got his bike stolen…that is no fun at all. I will continue to pray of you and your family. Thank you for your kind words. I read your comment as I was sitting in the waiting room of the doctors office with my 9-year old daughter who has been ill the past 10 days.
