Sometimes we wonder why things happen in life. Sometimes things don’t go as we planned and we wonder why? Maybe we question God? Maybe we think God doesn’t hear our prayers? We can’t see the bigger picture, but if we trust that God is in control, we can rest knowing He is taking the wheel.
For nine years, I was blessed to work from home while raising my young children. From the time I finished my masters degree to the to birth of my fourth child, I worked as an instructor at Michigan State University in the Department of Communication. I worked on a contract basis from home for educational development at MSU Global. Our FIRST BIG contract was with the NBA. It was an exciting time for us. I was blessed to work closely with Dr. Janice Hilliard to create an integrative and cutting edge approach to providing personal and professional development education for the NBA D-League basketball players who were always on the go. We had a very successful program and Dr. Hilliard and I became very good friends in the process. I enjoyed visits to the NBA All-Star games and other exciting events.
But after nine years of working with the NBA, educational funding was limited. My husband got a job offer in Minnesota, and we were packing up our four kids and starting a new life. I let go of my career and became a full-time stay-at-home homeschool mom. While I didn’t understand why things didn’t go as I planned, I was at peace with my circumstances and never looked back. Over time, I had lost all connections with my all my MSU and NBA friends and colleagues.
But ALAS! At the beautiful beginnings of my newly launched career and consistently praying for God to expand my territory, God reconnected me with an old friend, Dr. Janice Hilliard. Our first conversation after seven years was as if we never skipped a beat. I was elated to hear of her new adventures as an entrepreneur and the launch of her new business after a successful career in the NBA. We reconnected in so many areas and I followed her closely so I can be one of the first to see the launch of her new business. I am excited to announce the launch of Hilliard Solutions.
Dr. Janice Hilliard has many years of experience coaching and educating athletes and encouraging an environment that fosters success as a individual, professional, and athlete. Her story, her skills, her education, and her passion have impacted so many lives. I am excited to see the success stories of the new athletes she will coach and share life with on their journeys to success. For budding athletes, professional athletes, and those aspiring to be an athlete, Dr. Hilliard is an exceptional asset to your career path.
When God reconnects you with someone that you never thought you would ever hear from again, I consider it a Godincidence. I cherish those relationships because I know there is a purpose and reason for bringing us back together. While I may not know why, I am excited to watch God expand her territory and mine in our friendship, our businesses, and our relationship with HIM.
The next time something happens and you can’t understand why, trust God with all your heart. Sometimes we may not be ready to see the bigger picture, but someday we will!
