Why are you hitting your alarm clock? Trying to start a fight first thing in the morning? Are struggling with getting up in the morning? Hitting snooze over an over again? The winter season is tough because it is so hard to jump out of bed into the COLD! Burr! I struggle for sure! But every time I have pressed the snooze button, I feel worst than if I had just gotten up in the first place.

Studies show that hitting snooze does not allow you to get back into that deep sleep where you feel refreshed. Think about it. You are literally torturing yourself by going back to “sleep” for five to ten minutes only to be woken up again, and again, and again. After all, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity. You feel groggy as you peel yourself out of bed while trying to figure out a way to make up for the time you missed hitting the snooze button. Then starts the downward spiral of the “self talk” of all the things that you could have accomplished if you had just gotten up on time. What about getting stressed because you are late for work and hitting every red light on the way. Unnecessary stress right? Have you been there? It all started with hitting snooze! Crazy to think, right?
I usually wake up at 5 a.m. every morning. But in all honesty, it has been hard for me lately. So what did I do? To help me get my spring in my step, I have a bottle of R.C. Essential Oil by my bedside. I put my alarm clock far enough away so I have to get out of bed to turn it off and then I open my bottle of R.C. Essential Oil and take a few DEEP breaths. In a matter of 20-30 seconds I am feeling alert and ready to start my day. Why? Because the small molecules from the essential oil travel through the nose, past the blood brain barrier, into the limbic system. The unique blend of multiple species of eucalyptus and peppermint helps to stimulate the brain and respiratory system to get that oxygen flowing to the brain (this mama needs that desperately!).
After I get my brain pumped, I rub some R.C. Essential Oil on my chest, put on my workout clothes, and get my move on! R.C. essential oil is also good to diffuse during workouts and you can apply it with a carrier oil post workout for muscle recovery. AND (yes, there is more) it helps support the respiratory system through those rough seasonal irritants (and that a few of the of many uses and benefits. There is much more!)
As a Certified Aromatherapist, L1, I am always looking for natural, simple, quick, and effective ways to feel my best and to educate others to feel their best too! I LOVE how I can use one amazing essential oil for so many things. And with the Young Living Seed to Seal Promise, I feel good about what I am inhaling and putting into my body and recommending to others. And most of all, I feel safe using them for my family. So off I go to homeschool my six kiddos (yup, there is an oil for that too…it is called MOTIVATION, GENEYUS, and CLARITY. More on that later…)

Great idea! I like sniffing peppermint (per your suggesting a while back about using peppermint to get me going in the AM). The struggle is real!! 🙂

It sure is a struggle. This winter has definitely been hard especially after being in Florida for three weeks. I still LOVE peppermint. I also like to change things up a bit sometimes and R.C. is a wonderful alternative. Glad you are still enjoying your peppermint. Blessings.
